Since I last updated, a whole lot of stuff has been going on. Senior Project presentations, gallery showings and getting stuff in line for graduation, which is in 3 more days! I am very excited to be finished with school finally, and be able to get a good job!

On Thursday, there is a portfolio showing & job fair that AiPH sets up. They invite people in the graphic design industry that are looking to hire. I'll have my portfolio and senior project set up, the graphic design department and employers will walk around and look at your stuff, the GD department also chooses best portfolio, which is something im hoping for, but not counting on it.

I also recently made $175 on a freelance job, that ultimately wasn't used. But its a design that I can add to my over all logos.

As a class grade, it was mandatory to create a website for your 'design company' so you can get freelance jobs, and also a job.

My website is http://jay182.aisites.com/

Attached is my Senior Project and the Logo that I created.

Here are a few cool links that I have come across also...

This is the last few weeks of school, and I am currently working hard on my senior project presentation. We will present tomorrow in class, for a 'practice' session, then again for the big-time professional presentation on Monday night. It will be in front of a panel, who will ask questions about your research, and the project, you have to defend it and persuade them that this is a problem, this is how you will fix it. They wanted you to choose a topic that you are passionate about, so I chose recycling. It's probably the easiest thing to do, but the average American doesn't think to recycle, or even know why we should, the effects of it, and what exactly you recycle. So my objective is to teach mainly the city of Philadelphia that it IS important, you CAN make an impact, and most of all, its so simple. If you can put your trash in a trash can and take it out to the curb for pick up, you can recycle.

I have put together a few useful, important and interesting facts that are designed in block text form & simple icons for the first part of my presentation. The block text will then be made into city billboards & signage that will be disbursed all over the city. Along with that, I created a 'Philadelphia recycling logo' that will be a "stencil" but a sticker. So you could stick this stencil/sticker on a wall, light pole, over graffiti etc... to have the 'city elements come through the logo'. There would also be an event held called "Philadelphia Loves Green", that will be held on the parkway with a TON Eco-friendly information, food and bands/artists/performers that are active in being green. With all of this information being spread around the city, the logo as well as this informational 'Philadelphia Loves Green Rally', I am hoping that this will 'spark' an interest in the people of Philadelphia. I know not everyone will be into it. But there will be people who are interested, seeds were planted in their head about recycling. If that number builds, those people will be a great addition to the city of Philadelphia on day becoming a green city.

I have posted what my project looks like at this moment, I still have a lot to work on, so keep that in mind! When I am all finished with this project, I will post my final product. ^_^
